Stank Lloyd Wrong is an irascible architect engaged by Bucky to make some renovations to his closet,[1] with plans for a hot milk tub, a rattery and a minimalist string gallery.[2]
He first appears on April 30, 2007 when Satchel, asleep on his bean bag in his room, is rudely awakened by banging as Stank, using a mallet, knocks a hole in his wall.[3] When Satchel points out the mess on his floor Stank threatens to hit him with his mallet.
Satchel further annoys Stank when he refers to the Petronas Towers, in Malaysia, as being the tallest buildings in the world and threatens to hit Satchel so hard that Andrea Palladio (an Italian Renaissance architect) won’t be able to make his face symmetrical again.[4] Satchel replies with “I’m sorry ... I need to Google your threat.” Stank angrily asks Satchel whether he is claiming that the spikes on the Petronas Towers are more integral to the buildings’ design than the antennas on the Sears Tower thereby making them taller.[5] Stank then says that Satchel will regret ever insulting the Sears Tower and jumps on the back of his head as he walks away.[6] Later, Rob, on questioning why Satchel is holding a pack of frozen peas on his head, discovers that Stank had bitten Satchel after leaping on him and then, when Satchel had challenged Gropius’ assertion that architecture is the sign of authentic democracy, he had bonked Satchel’s head on the hot tub.[7][8] Rob then finds Stank’s plans smouldering on a lampshade where Stank had left them, and when Stank admits that he had hit Satchel, Rob fires him.[9]
As well as being irascible, Stank appears to have a big ego, although after Rob sends him packing he says that he feels a strange disease coming on...humility.[2]
Trivia[]
- The name Stank Lloyd Wrong is a play on the name of the famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
- In 2003, when Bucky builds a wall across the hallway as protection from Lemurs, Turtles and Boars,[10] Rob refers to him as Frank Lloyd Wrong.[11]
